The Old Malthouse in silk ribbon embroidery

Hello from a cold and windy Cape Town, I hope you are all safe and well. I have something lovely to show you today. The Old Malthouse which is beautifully done in silk ribbon embroidery

This lovely piece is by Christine Chan from Arcadia in California. Christine is always so generous about sharing her beautiful work, thank you, Christine!

From the painting Under the Old Malthouse, Hambledon, Surrey by Allingham, Helen (1848-1926)

Don’t you just love the pink roses? Here you can learn how to make lovely spider-web roses or use a combination of spider-web and stem stitch to form the roses.

Look at how Christine embroidered the roof and the garden gate and don’t you love the grass-like texture she added under the turquoise daisies.

And on the right-hand side of the gate as well. She used Turkey stitch and single-knotted stitch to create the texture.

This lovely panel, printed onto pure cotton in full colour is available here and if you would like us to pack the ribbons and threads for you as well, please feel free to contact us and ask for the Old Malthouse kit.

I am writing some lovely tutorials on how to make cute strawberries and a lovely Christmas Poinsettia, so do watch out for my newsletter which we are planning to send out this weekend. If you have not subscribed yet, you are welcome to subscribe here.

Have a good week, stitching world and stay safe!

Love
